If you have been interested in magic for some time, you could not help coming upon The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram, which is actually a relic from the Golden Dawn days. It became popularized by Crowley and his ilk. I learnt about it first from the book High Magic: Theory & Practice by Frater U. D.

The book is okay. I was not really thrilled with it but it is a decent info, I’ve seen much worse. He quotes Crowley far too much and it seems he is bent on Ceremonial magic in general. He does not go into much detail as far as techniques are concerned and there is too much Hebrew and Kabbala in his book. What I don’t like about Kabbala is that every single book on Kabbala I’ve read so far explains complicated Kabbalistic concept through Greek planetary and elemental magic terms! Hardly seems right though I understand the attempts to clarify totally strange magic tradition (at least to the western mind). At least to me it is very alien and didn’t click.

I also read Initiation into Hermetics by Franz Bardon. I think it is a good read, he treats magic from the energy point of view (that is to say magic is basically manipulation of subtle energies or some such thing). Yet in spite of seeming simplicity I think it’s a hard book. It’s easy to understand, he does make a good job at that but it is really a weird mixture of old-fashioned concepts (like gnomes) and this energy manipulation, which is quite a modern thing and would be probably better explained in modern terms. Anyway, that was my impression. I tried his exercises for a short time but didn’t really feel anything so didn’t stick to them.

Anyway, back to the The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (from now on, it’ll be referred to as LBRP). At first, I felt nothing. Then suddenly I visualized archangels smiling and nodding to me and sometimes showing me stuff. That changed the whole thing. Now I actually enjoy performing it. Who would have thought?

By the way it took me a while to realize the importance of the emotional component. Now I try to arouse in myself feelings of joy and happiness, content and satisfaction. negative emotions are easy for me of course but I don’t like feeling them so I try to master my emotions and feel whatever I like. I want to control my feeling rather than let them controlling me. So I got to the point where I can summon a weak emotion of satisfaction but it’s better than a strong emotion of anger or whatever else. I can work on intensification later.

Failed

April 20, 2009

Well, I did not get it. I kind of expected that but hoped that my charming personality might win over (he-he). It’s really depressing, considering that the job could be mine if I just learnt a bit faster.

So the first experiment failed. The tragic part is I might end up homeless. I am running out of money. Yet i can’t help thinking that something can be done…

Today we went to employment agency but that does not look promising at all. I will continue work.

Let’s Begin

April 20, 2009

So you want to learn about chaos magic? Or you might know something about it and want to know what other people are doing with it?

Well, in my opinion, the best thing would be to share our experiments with techniques of magic. We can all read about theory in the books. You don’t even have to buy books, internet is chockfull of information, perhaps too much of it.

I decided to document the things I do so I could look back and see what worked, what did not. I think it’s good to keep some kind of documentation. And what can be better than an internet web log?

So my primary concern now is to get a job. I saw an ad on internet that looked exactly what I wanted. So this is what I did.

Created a sigil but did not charge it yet. (Actually the sigil was created a while ago.)

Created a bindrune, charged.

Created a runescript, charged.

Burned candles for a “to get a job spell”. I combined 2 spells. Left the candles burn all night.

Performed a spell to ensure a successful interview.

Created an elemental to ensure successful interview.

The first 3 operation were rather generic in character, not counting some generic candle spells. The last 3, however, were specific spells designed to get me that particular job. I might have gone overboard with that, I don’t know. I am just a beginner and I have to prove to myself yet that magic works.

The interview did not go too well. Actually the biggest problem with interview was my resume: too many jobs for a rather short duration (like 6-8 months). If I had been smarter and learnt from past experiences, the job would be mine, for sure. As for now I don’t think I got it. I might though, this is written on Saturday, I might get a call on Monday.

New Theme

April 19, 2009

Just browsed through the themes. I chose the current one as it is fairly easy to read and is not overloaded with extra stuff. I hate red letter on black background so why should I do this to my readers? Heck, I myself will be reading this, so might as well do it right. I might even choose a lighter background later on but for now this will do. I am not really thrilled with any of the theme but the default is really, really UGLY!

This blog is an experiment that has just started. I might continue or I might cancel the blog completely and just delete it. We’ll see.

Welcome, friend!

I say, the default theme in WordPress is really ugly! But i decided to go with WordPress rather than Blogger in order to learn it a bit more. I like Blogger very much and I’d like to learn WordPress as well.

Anyway, you came here to learn about Chaos magic. This is going to be a diary exploring different aspects of this fascinating subject and quite possibly my experience with its techniques. I don’t know though yet whether I’ll leave them here or move to a different domain.

So be my guest. if you have any questions, be sure to leave a comment, okay? I’d like to know what you think.
